Healthy and fun peanut butter and banana cookies for your dachshund! Spoil your pup with these cute cookies.
I wanted these cookies to look like real banana’s, so I added turmeric (which is very healthy for your dog) to make the dough yellow and cinnamon and egg white for the brown stems. I use non-fat Greek Yogurt and salt-free peanut butter because it is healthier for your dog, but you can also use the normal variants unless you are planning on feeding your dog all the cookies at once, LOL!
You can choose to make the banana-shaped cookies like I did, but you can of course pick any shape and size you like. I can imagine your small pup enjoying coin-sized treats more than a big cookie.
Here’s what you’ll need for +-10 banana-shaped cookies:
– 50 g flour
– 1 small tbsp. non-fat Greek Yogurt
– 1 small tbsp. turmeric
– 1 tbsp. salt-free peanut butter
– 1/5 banana
– 1 egg white, beaten
– 1 tsp. cinnamon
– food processor
– brush (you can also use a knife)
– baking parchment
– banana-shaped cookie cutter
– rolling pin
Preheat the oven to 300⁰F (150⁰C).
Mix the flour, yogurt, turmeric, peanut butter and banana in a food processer.
Take the dough out of the food processor and form a ball. Sprinkle your kitchen dresser with flour. Roll the dough on your dresser until it’s about 0,20 inch (0,5 cm) (not thicker!) thick and cut it with the cookie cutters.
Mix the egg white and cinnamon and brush the stems with it.
Place the cookies on a lined baking tray and bake them for about 20 minutes just before they turn brown. Let them cool down before you feed them to your dog.
You can store the cookies in a container for several days.
As you can see, Tilda loves these cookies! She’s crazy about banana AND peanut butter, so I knew right away that this recipe would be a big hit!
Always supervise your dog when it is eating. If your dog is behaving/feeling differently after eating the cookies, stop feeding them to your dog immediately as your dog may have an allergic reaction to (one of) the ingredients. I made sure all ingredients are dog-safe, but just like some humans some dogs are intolerant to certain products.
